New Service Plaza Website Launched
The new CT Service Plaza Website allows travelers to see traffic cameras, make a safe driving pledge, and learn about community programs.
As we gear up for summer travel, the Connecticut Service Plazas revamped their website (www.ctserviceplazas.com) to make it easier for travelers to find places to stop along their journey. Some of the newest components of the website allow visitors to quickly see the service plazas along a specific highway, the state’s various traffic cameras along those highways, a current weather report local to each plaza, and contact phone numbers for those who lose an item at one of the plazas. The website now encourages drivers to sign a pledge to end distracted entitled “park your phone, drive your car”. Several facts about distracted driving are presented alongside information about a social media campaign called “Phone off Selfie.” It also mentions the community outreach programs the company has already held which include food drives, coat drives, toy drives, and child safety days. There is also information on the environmentally-friendly components of the service plazas including many which feature solar power and Tesla charging stations. Each one features water-efficient restrooms, energy-efficient insulation and lighting, and super-efficient heating and air conditioning. The website features a link to a commercial produced by the Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School students in New Haven highlighting the amenities of the new I-95 Connecticut Service Plazas. A banner on the website advertises the state’s 20 service plazas along Route 15, I-395, and I-95 to be “so much more than a rest stop” with state-of-the art security and facilities that are clean and convenient. Below the banner, it states that the plazas include “industry-leading hospitality and retail brands, local flavor and flare, quality restaurants, competitively priced fuel”. New plazas recently opened on I-95 in Fairfield with new openings coming for Route 15 in New Canaan and I-95 in Madison. Each service plaza is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week featuring different food options, an Alltown Convenience Store, an ExxonMobil gas station, clean restrooms, free Wi-Fi, and backup power generators. Some of the food options include Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s, Subway, and many more. Travelers can find specific information about each facility which includes photos of the interior and exterior alongside general directions and GPS coordinates. According to a recently released press release, Paul Ladino, President and CEO of Project Service stated “the new Project Service website will help travelers to find convenient service plazas as they travel in Connecticut. Our Connecticut Service Plaza team is excited to provide great food and retail choices, clean restrooms, fuel and convenience to the large number of travelers. The new website is a terrific tool.” Locally, the Connecticut Service Plazas operates a service plaza on I-395 southbound between exits 79A and 79 which is open 24/7 featuring Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, Alltown Convenience Store, Mobil gasoline, ATM, free air, a dog walk, and backup generators.
