Nurse Faces Charges for Mohegan Sun Player Chip Theft from Manslaughter Suspect

The woman is accused of stealing a number of items from a businessman during a party at the hotel.

MONTVILLE, CT – Jury selection for a case involving a Long Island nurse stealing items from a California business man at Mohegan Sun got underway Thursday, The Day reported.

Registered nurse Moira Canty, 43, is suspected of stealing a $25,000 gaming chip, a Rolex watch and other items from Joseph Horiuchi, 28, on Feb. 1, 2015, according to The Day. The Rockville Centre, N.Y. resident risks losing her nursing license.

Mohegan Tribal Police arrested Canty after she tried to cash the chip she allegedly stole during a party at the hotel, The Day reported. Horiuchi is separately facing charges for vehicular manslaughter stemming from an April 9 crash in Vista, Calif.
