Owner Arrested for Keeping Pounds of Marijuana in Montville Diner: Police

Police said a Montville diner owner was arrested for allegedly keeping eight pound of marijuana in the restaurant.

MONTVILLE, CT - Police said the owner of a well-known Montville restaurant is charged with keeping multiple pounds of marijuana in her diner, the Norwich Bulletin reported. Police said the drug was found on the premises in March.

Police said Mel’s Diner owner Melanie Lamperelli, 39, of Quaker Hill was charged Monday morning after turning herself into police, according to the Norwich Bulletin. Officers said they found eight pounds of marijuana at the diner during a search on March 30. (To sign up for Montville breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Police had initially came across the large amount of marijuana while responding to reports of an open door at the diner, the Norwich Bulletin reported. Officers said they came came across the stash as they searched the restaurant for intruders.
