Pequot Museum Plans Earth Week Activities

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center invites you to celebrate Earth Week with them!

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center has announced that it will host Earth Week activities beginning Wednesday, April 18 and running through Saturday, April 21.

Here's what's happening at the Pequot Museum for Earth Week:

  • Recycled Crafts - Wednesday though Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by to make crafts from recycled materials! The museum's email to Patch also says you'll get to learn "how Native people valued and used their resources."
  • Herring and Native People - Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. The museum says guests will learn "the cultural significance of the herring and fishing rights and what organizations in New England are doing to help herring return to their ponds and lakes."
  • Earth Day on Lantern Hill - Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Hike Lantern Hill with Senior Researcher Dr. Jason Mancini. Be sure to bring gloves suitable for picking up litter!
  • Spring Harvest Cooking Demonstration - Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Museum Educator Leah Hopkins will do some traditional cooking with fresh greens, wild fowl eggs, rabbit, fish and more! Yum!
