Political Signs In Montville Boobytrapped: State Police

The signs were discovered by the town's Public Works Department.

MONTVILLE, CT — Several political signs in Montville were tampered with, according to state police, and the incident "has been deemed a risk to public safety."

The signs were discovered by members of the town's Department of Public Works on Oct. 26 and were found with "squares of plywood which had large metal nails protruding upwards," wrote state police in a release.

"The [plywood and nail] devices were under signs that were on the shoulder of the road and were concealed with loose grass to avoid detection. This posed a risk to pedestrians and to vehicles."
