Reps. France and McCarty : Montville Receives State Grant for Local Economic Development
Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) awards Montville Transfer Station $475,000 in state grants.
MONTVILLE – State Reps. Mike France (Ledyard, Preston & Montville) and Kathleen McCarty (Waterford & Montville) are excited to announce a $475,000 state grant for the Montville Transfer Station.
The state Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grant will be used to make required updates in order to bring the transfer station up to code compliance, which will improve the safety and functionality of the site.
“This state grant is significant for the town of Montville, providing funding for renovations that will improve the safety of traffic flow, as well as supporting environmental cleanup of the transfer station,” said Rep. France. “The town of Montville has been working on this grant for several years. It is great to see their hard work rewarded by receiving this grant.”

Rep. McCarty said, “Investing in important infrastructure upgrades like these benefits the entire community. I am pleased that these funds are being made available for Montville. This investment helps set the stage for increased economic and environmental opportunities as we seek to position Montville as a regional hub of sustainability.”
The town of Montville has a highly-developed recycling policy that encourages environmentally conscious practices throughout the community. Improved access and usability of the transfer station through these updates will ensure that the town’s current practices remain effective, and the residents remain mindful.

The transfer station is located at 669 Route 163 in Uncasville. Residents can drop off solid waste, bulky waste, and recyclables from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
