Scholarships Available for Montville High School Students

You've applied to your colleges.....Don't delay!! in applying for Scholarships. Here are 3 for All MHS Seniors to consider!

High School Seniors, Now that the college application frenzy is over, have you thought about how you will pay for your college education?

This school year Montville High School Seniors participated in 2 Scholarship Advisories. In these sessions I discussed with you the opportunities available to you, not only as MHS students but as residents of the Town of Montville.

As scholarships are received in the Career Resource Center, room 309, they are entered in to Naviance. All MHS Students have access to Naviance. If you do not remember your log in or password, visit me, Mrs. Ingoglia in the Career Resource Center, and I will reset the information for you.

Not only are the scholarships entered into Naviance (over 350 at last count) but they are emailed to every HS Senior, through the email address you use to log into the web based program.

SHEEHAN FAMILY TRUST SCHOLARSHIP

Will you be furthering your education in the field of HUMANITIES?

Apply today for the Sheehan Family Trust Scholarship.

Two $5,000 scholarships are being offered for MHS Seniors intending to further their education in the field of humanities (such as history, law, literature, performing and visual arts, philosophy, language, or religion).

Important factors are character, scholastic records, and significant financial need.

Montville residents currently in college and home school students are also eligible to apply.

ISAAC EMERSON PALMER SCHOLARSHIP

Townsend Palmer founded the Palmer Scholarship Fund in memory of his father, Isaac Emerson Palmer, a leading Montville industrialist in the mid-1800’s.

Each year many High School Seniors interested in certain fields are offered scholarships through this program, and the scholarships may be renewed throughout college.

All students living in Montville planning to attend post-high school education full-time are eligible to apply for an Isaac Emerson Palmer Scholarship.

Special consideration is given to those planning to seek practical education in technical institutions of higher learning and trade or technical schools.

The requirements for eligibility include:

  • Bona fide resident of the Town of Montville, Connecticut
  • Less than 25 years of age
  • A graduate of Montville High School or school of equal rank
  • Applying as a full-time student in a school of higher learning for practical education
  • College students can apply.

Applications are available in on the MHS Website, Naviance, the Career Resource Center and Main Office at Montville High School.

What is the Montville High School Scholarship?

This one application is all that is required to be eligible for a wide variety of school & local community scholarships and awards. The Montville High School Scholarship is comprised of 31 community organization scholarships and is open to ALL MHS Graduating Seniors to apply too.

How much are the Awards?

Scholarship awards range in amount from $2,500 to a plaque.

How are the scholarships awarded?

Once students fill out the application, committee members made up of teachers, counselors and administrators sit down to review the applications to the criteria set by the 31 community organizations.

What is the Eligibility Criteria?

The Criteria varies by scholarship. The following is a listing of the various criteria listed throughout the 31 scholarship opportunities:

Ambition to start your own business, Arts, Business, Civics, Community Service, Continuing Education in a 2/4 year college, technical vocational school, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Extra-curricular activities, Financial need, Government, Health Care, Health/Fitness, History, Law Enforcement, Learning Disability, Manufacturing, Math, Medical,Resident of Montville, Social Studies, Social Work, Solid academic standing, Strong work ethic, Technology, and or Various GPA’s.

For additional scholarship opportunities, MHS Seniors should log into their Naviance account. Select the College tab then Scholarship List. There are over 350 scholarship opportunities listed. You can also use the “browse by category” to search by field of study, community service, extra curricular activities, or Local Scholarships - which will narrow the search to scholarships available in our local area.
