Seniors at Montville High Hold Dinner to Raise Money for Class

Donations From Olive Garden, Pepsi Are Key to Fundraiser's Success

On Thursday Night, $7 bought the Montville residents a multi-course meal complete with wait-service by members of the Montville High School senior class.

The meal was a fundraiser for class expenses, such as the prom at Water's Edge in Westbrook and the cost of graduation caps and gowns.

The seniors were able to get support from the Waterford Olive Garden, which donated salads, bread and pasta. More help came from the Pepsi Cola company, which provided beverages. For the desert course: homemade baked goods.

Seniors put the food on plates, which they shuttled over to the tables. Diners got to enjoy a Christmas soundtrack as they ate their meals.

"We have a lot of spirit, that's for sure," said Ashley Sgandurra, president of the class of 2011. She and Sarah Dodson, the class representative, were on hand to collect money from visitors. They and other students also sold raffle tickets, 10 for $5.

Chris Zyrlis, the class advisor was at the event, putting food on the plates. "We have a lot of people helping out," he said.

He was pleased at the work the class was doing raising funds. They had just finished a successful pie fundraiser and were also going to raise money through a pancake breakfast at Applebee's.
