State Trooper Assists With Child Birth On Route 2 In Lebanon

A state trooper recently assisted with a child birth on the side of the road in Lebanon.

LEBANON, CT - Police said a state trooper assisted with a child birth Wednesday in a Lebanon commuter lot. The incident occurred at approximately 7:27 p.m. after troopers were notified that a woman was in active labor on the side of the road in Lebanon.

Troopers quickly located the unidentified woman in the Route 2 commuter parking lot off exit 22 and several on-duty troopers were subsequently dispatched to the area, police said.

An off-duty trooper in his cruiser acknowledged the dispatch transmission while in the area and was the first to locate the woman. Police said he immediately provided her with advanced first aid care.

Police said the trooper remained with the women and assisted until responding on-duty troopers and an ambulance arrived. She was then transported to Backus Hospital.
