1 Dead, 1 Critically Injured In Shooting Outside Waterbury Nightclub: PD

The shooting happened early Sunday outside a club on East Main Street, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — A double shooting outside a local nightclub over the weekend left one person dead and a second hospitalized in critical condition, according to police.

Sgt. Joseph Morais said police were dispatched to LA 42 Night Club at 673 E. Main St. around 12:04 a.m. on July 5 for a report of shots fired.

Officers found two unresponsive people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds on the ground outside the club, according to Morais.

The two victims, an 18-year-old female and a 22-year-old male, both Waterbury residents, were rushed to area hospitals for emergency care.

The 22-year-old man died due to his injuries, police said. On Monday, police identified him as Trey-Von Dunbar of Waterbury.

The female victim remained in critical condition as of Monday morning, and police described her injuries as “life-threatening.”

According to police, when they arrived on scene, there was a large gathering of people.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and police are seeking any witnesses.
