10 Car Windows Smashed Mother's Day Morning In Naugatuck: Police

"It's safe to say we don't think you're making your mother very proud this Mother's Day," Naugatuck police said on social media.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A number of Naugatuck residents woke up to a rotten Mother's Day surprise after at least 10 car windows were smashed by thieves early Sunday morning, according to police.

In a Facebook post Sunday, police wished a good morning to "everyone except whoever decided to smash 10, and counting, car windows over night," and assured residents officers were working hard to identify the suspects involved.

"It's safe to say we don't think you're making your mother very proud this Mother’s Day," police said, referring to the suspects.

According to Fox 61, one of the vehicles belongs to Naugatuck resident Nicole Novembre, whose iPad was stolen after thieves smashed her driver's side window. She discovered the theft as she was about to pick up her daughter for a Mother's Day celebration.

The holiday was already difficult for Novembre after having lost her son days after Mother's Day a couple of years ago, Fox 61 reported.

Novembre also spoke to News 8 about the break-in and noted her iPad was inside a backpack that was taken from the vehicle.

"They thought they could go in my car and take whatever they wanted to," Novembre told News 8. "How would they feel if somebody did that to their mother, or their grandmother?"
