2-Hour Parking Limit Signs Approved For Section Of Naugatuck

Police officials also provided an update on the D.A.R.E program.

News and Notes from the recent Naugatuck Board of Police Commissioners meeting:

John Rodgers and Joanne Allison were named as alternates to the Police Commission.

There was an uptick in verbal warnings given out in April as officers cracked down on seatbelt and distracted driving offenses. First offense is a verbal warning followed by a ticket, the Chief explained.

Deputy Mayor Laurie Taf thanked Chief Steven Hunt for pushing for the D.A.R.E program to get back into the schools next year at the 7th grade level.

Chief Hunt's recommendation to put 2-hour parking limit signs on Lower Spring Street was approved by the commission. The recommendation came after police officials spoke with impacted business owners in the area.

Hunt, the new Police Chief, received strong praise at the meeting including from Mayor Pete Hess for his involvement in the community. Chairman Ralph Roper Jr. also praised Hunt's performance saying the Chief has undertaken several initiatives.
