2 Women Hid $452 Worth of Groceries in Their Purses at Big Y: Naugatuck Police

Police say the women tried to conceal the groceries in their purses.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Police say two women stole a combined $452 of groceries from Big Y by concealing items in their purses.

Police said at 2:46 p.m. on Dec. 19 officers responded to the Big Y for a larceny complaint. Kimberly Toloski, 44, of East Main Street in Torrington and Brenda McBurney, 54, of High Street in Naugatuck, are both accused of filling a shopping cart with groceries and other items and they concealed the merchandise in their purses, police said.

Police said both women left the store without paying for their groceries. All told, the stolen groceries had a value of $452.83, police said.

They were each charged with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.
