Hartford HealthCare dives in statewide

Don’t miss this amazing day! Nearly 200 swimmers will be swimming across Long Island Sound, protected by a fleet of 90 escort boats, perimeter boats, and 20 law enforcement, fire, rescue and Coast Guard boats. Since its inception in 1987, Swim Across the Sound has raised millions to benefit thousands of individuals battling cancer. Money funds programs and services as well as financial assistance to patients for items that are not covered by insurance. This year, Swim Across the Sound has gone state-wide, bringing in swimmers from every corner of CT, raising money for the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute and the hospital of your choice.

This is a global destination! And brings in swimmers from across Connecticut, surrounding states and as far away as Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and even Mexico!

The event is on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 5 am, when it begins at Danford’s Hotel & Marina, in Port Jefferson, NY and ends at 2 pm at Captain’s Cove Seaport, One Bostwick Avenue, Bridgeport, CT

Members of the public are invited to come to Captain’s Cove and cheer the swimmers on as they finish this unique event.
2 pm: The fastest swimmers are expected to start to cross the finish line at approximately 2:30 pm, depending on the weather.
4 pm: Things will heat up after 4:00 pm when the bulk of the swimmers will finish.
7 pm: An awards ceremony for all the swimmers and boat captains will take place at approximately 7:00 pm after all the swimmers have finished.

The maritime amusement center will be alive with music, entertainment, and vendor booths. Boardwalk shops and restaurant will be open, too.
