Shakesperience Productions, Inc. Awarded $5,000 from MUNI Insurance, Inc. through Liberty Mutual Insurance Company® and Safeco Insurance® 2022 Make More Happen™ Awards

Community’s Support Can Help Double the Donation to $10,000 by Sharing the Story on Social Media

WATERBURY, CT — Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance are pleased to announce that MUNI Insurance has earned a 2022 Make More Happen Award, which recognizes its exceptional volunteerism with Shakesperience Productions and commitment to making a positive community impact. The award includes an initial $5,000 donation with a chance to double the amount to $10,000 that will directly benefit Shakesperience Productions, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring students, families, and theatre professionals through the arts to explore social constructs and foster mutual respect for all people.

Starting Monday, November 7, the story of MUNI Insurance and Shakesperience Productions will be spotlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at www.agentgiving.com/MUNI-Insurance where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives at least 500 votes— shares to social media and comments on their story—the donation will be increased to $10,000.

An English major and lover for theater arts, Frances Batista, MUNI Insurance Agency Principal, devotes her time to Shakesperience Productions to continue their vision in keeping the arts alive and providing unique resources to less fortunate children across Waterbury. Batista also sits on the organization’s board and meets monthly to discuss the many ways to remain inclusive of the diverse community and incorporate various cultures into their acting programs. The agency team volunteers year-round by hosting events, advising and fundraising for Shakesperience Productions’ free activities.

“Shakesperience Productions is a true hero in our community offering access to the arts for youth and families who otherwise would not be able to afford to participate and MUNI Insurance is truly honored to advocate for their great cause,” said Batista. “We are forever grateful to receive this Make More Happen Award from Liberty Mutual and Safeco to provide Shakesperience Productions with much needed funds to continue their impactful work.”

The $10,000 donation will allow Shakesperience Productions to continue to offer free school programs, acting classes, and summer Shakespeare courses. The organization has also created a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program to extend employment to minorities from the Waterbury community.

Throughout 2022, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
