$5,300 Worth Of Goods Stolen From Walmart: Naugatuck Police

Police made two arrests and share details of the elaborate burglary scheme.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A West Haven teen, Williams Higgins, 18, and Stephen Verity, 28, of Shelton, are accused of stealing more than $5,300 worth of goods from the Naugatuck Walmart, police said.

On Feb. 13, both Higgins, of Carriage Drive, and Verity, of Wooster Street, were charged on a warrant stemming from a shoplifting incident that occurred on December 30, 2018 where officers responded to Walmart, 110 New Haven Road on a report of a shoplifting, police said.

Loss prevention told police that they saw the two accuseds break into a locked area and conceal $5,317 worth of merchandise and exit the store through the fire door without paying for the goods, police said.

They are both charged with third-degree larceny and burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and burglary. Higgins is also charged with first-degree criminal trespass. They were released on a $10,000 bond.
