50 Bags Of Fentanyl Found After Motor Vehicle Stop: Naugatuck PD

The incident occurred on Sunday on New Haven Road in Naugatuck.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” Fifty bags of the drug fentanyl, and a small amount of suspected crack cocaine, were found in a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old Torrington man during a motor vehicle stop in Naugatuck on Sunday, according to authorities.

Eric C. Mensik was pulled over by police on New Haven Road at about 5:30 p.m. when officers discovered the vehicle he was driving had the wrong license plate.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found the drugs and a suspected crack pipe, police said.

Mensik was taken into custody and was charged with the following:

  • 2 Counts of possession of a controlled substance (first offense)
  • Use of drug paraphernalia
  • Improper use of a license plate
  • Failure to display license plate
  • Illegal operation of a motor vehicle without minimum insurance
  • Operating an unregistered motor vehicle

He was released after posting a $5,000 non-surety bond, and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 10.
