A total of $75,063 in scholarships was given out to graduating seniors recently on honors night, and another $21,390 will be awarded to students on graduation night, June 19.
Several local foundations, civic organizations and individuals donate to the annual NHS scholarship fund. (See a list of winners and donors below.) The winners of the awards that will be handed out on graduation night won't be released until that date.
"With the cost of books going up and the price of things being as they are, this is a way to help ease the burden for families," said Deborah Rutigliano, director of the guidance department at NHS.

She said people in the middle class, which is where most Naugatuck families fall, don't qualify for major grants or a ton of financial aid.
"There are people working really hard to afford a college education and every little bit helps," she said.
