NAUGATUCK, CT — In light of a "significant increase" in stolen vehicles recently reported in Naugatuck, police have provided a list of safety tips to help residents keep their vehicles safe.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, police said the department "has seen a significant increase in stolen motor vehicles recently."
According to police, many of these thefts involved vehicles left unlocked or keys and key fobs left inside the vehicles.
Police ask residents to help protect their vehicles and property by following these simple safety tips:
"Most vehicle thefts are crimes of opportunity," police wrote on Facebook. "Taking a few extra seconds to secure your vehicle can prevent you from becoming the next victim."
