According to police, many of these thefts involved vehicles left unlocked or keys and key fobs left inside the vehicles.

Police ask residents to help protect their vehicles and property by following these simple safety tips:

"Most vehicle thefts are crimes of opportunity," police wrote on Facebook. "Taking a few extra seconds to secure your vehicle can prevent you from becoming the next victim."

Anyone who notices suspicious activity in their neighborhood is asked to contact the Naugatuck Police Department at 203-729-5222.
