The post also noted animal control services "will continue to the best of our ability" while the facility remains closed.

According to the department, all animal-related complaints, concerns and emergencies should be reported through dispatch at 203-729-5222 and calls will be forwarded to an on-call animal control officer for response.

Non-emergency inquiries, questions and general concerns can be sent via email to animalcontrol@naugatuckpd.gov.

"We appreciate the patience, understanding and support of our residents during this challenging time," the post reads. "We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available and will notify the public as soon as we are able to reopen our facility. Thank you for your continued support of Naugatuck Animal Control and the animals we serve."
