Dirt Bike Rider Killed In Weekend Crash In Waterbury: Police

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — A 21-year-old New York man was killed when the dirt bike he was operating crashed Sunday evening along local train tracks.

Police Sgt. Joseph Morais said the one-vehicle accident happened around 5:19 p.m. near a span of train tracks off of Yale Street.

Responding police officers found the victim lying on the ground beside a dirt bike and showing signs of "severe bodily trauma," police said.

Police identified the victim as Jose Eduardo, 21, of Carmel, New York. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

According to police, the victim was operating a dirt bike on the train tracks when he lost control and crashed into a concrete wall attached to a railroad bridge.

Waterbury police's Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing an investigation into the accident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the unit at 203-346-3975 or call the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line at 203-755-1234.
