Naugatuck Police Officer Promoted To Sergeant

NAUGATUCK, CT — A Naugatuck police officer was promoted to the rank of sergeant Friday by Mayor Pete Hess, according to the department.

In a Facebook post, police said Nick Lavoie began his law enforcement career with the Waterbury Police Department in 2013 before joining the Naugatuck Police Department in 2016.

Throughout his career, Lavoie has served as a member of the Regional Emergency Response Team and Bicycle Patrol Division, police said.

He has also served as a firearms instructor, field training officer, school resource officer at Naugatuck High School, crisis intervention-trained officer and member of the department's peer support team, according to police.

"We look forward to seeing Sergeant Lavoie bring his experience and commitment to this new role," the department wrote on Facebook. "Please join us in wishing him congratulations and continued success!"
