Attic Fire Damages Residence In Waterbury: FD

WATERBURY, CT — A two-story residence at 156 Farmington Ave. was damaged by a fire Tuesday afternoon.

Fire Capt. Edward Partridge said the Waterbury Fire Department received a report of smoke in the house at 12:53 p.m.

Firefighters arrived and saw light smoke in the home. They identified the source as a small attic fire, then extinguished it after opening up a ceiling on the second floor, according to Partridge.

Firefighters conducted a search of the home, but officials said everyone was safe outside.

No civilians or firefighters were injured.

The fire was declared under control at 1:07 p.m., Partridge said.

The power was cut to the home, and Eversource was contacted for safety, he added.

The Fire Marshal's Office is currently investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
