WATERBURY, CT — A violent weekend in the city left one man dead and two others injured in two separate shootings, according to police.
The first, fatal shooting happened on East Main Street.
Sgt. Joseph Morais said police received numerous 911 calls reporting a man had been shot Saturday around 12:50 a.m. outside a smoke shop at 1309 East Main St.
Officers found Jordance Dozier, 47, of Waterbury, lying in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Police also found evidence of shots fired, according to Morais.
Dozier was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died, according to police.
In the second weekend shooting, which happened Sunday around 5:30 a.m., police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Locust Street.
Officers arrived and found a 32-year-old Waterbury man with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police learned a 29-year-old Waterbury man had been dropped off at a local hospital, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators determined these two individuals were injured during the same incident, according to Morais. As of Monday, both were hospitalized, with the 32-year-old in stable condition and the 29-year-old in critical condition, police said.
