NAUGATUCK, CT — A driver was arrested after he was found unresponsive behind the wheel of a vehicle at a Naugatuck elementary school Wednesday, according to the Naugatuck Police Department.
In a news release posted to Facebook, police said they were called to the intersection of Spencer Street and Andrew Avenue, which serves as the main driveway access to Andrew Avenue Elementary School, around 9 a.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive driver.
According to police, officers found Aidon Young, 37, of Naugatuck, behind the wheel of a vehicle, which was running and in drive, with his foot on the brake.
Emergency personnel broke a window to gain access and Young was taken to a hospital for evaluation, police said.
Police said Young was arrested and charged with reckless driving in a school zone and risk of injury to a child.
He was held on a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Thursday, according to police.
The state Department of Children and Families was notified and is also investigating, according to police.
