NAUGATUCK, CT — A Waterbury man accused of selling narcotics has been charged in connection to a suspected overdose death investigation in Naugatuck, police announced this week.
In a news release posted to Facebook, police said Thursday that Anthony Vargas, 33, of Waterbury, was arrested Oct. 5 on a warrant following an investigation into a suspected overdose death reported earlier this year.
According to police, officers were called to a Naugatuck home on July 6 for a welfare check and found a person dead.
Officers located suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia at the home, and an autopsy later ruled the death was caused by an overdose, according to police.
During their investigation, police found evidence indicating Vargas "had allegedly arranged narcotics sales to the deceased just prior" to their death, according to police.
Vargas was charged with sale of a narcotic substance.
He was held on a court-set $250,000 cash/surety bond and arraigned in court Oct. 7, according to police.
