NAUGATUCK, CT — A woman was recently charged in connection to a crash that caused a serious injury last month in Naugatuck, according to the Naugatuck Police Department.
In a news release posted to the department's Facebook page Monday, police said the crash was reported Oct. 4 around 3:30 p.m. on Prospect Street near Union City Road.
According to police, officers determined Chayna Wallace, 39, of Naugatuck, crossed a double yellow line while driving on Prospect Street and hit another vehicle in a head-on collision.
A person was treated for a "severe and critical ankle injury" following the crash and later evaluated at an area hospital, according to police.
Police said witnesses told officers they saw Wallace's car driving recklessly moments before the crash.
Wallace turned herself into Naugatuck police Friday, according to police.
She was charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under influence of drugs and/or alcohol and failure to keep right at a curve or intersection.
She was held on a $50,000 bond and arraigned in court Friday morning, according to police.
