It’s that time of the year again! Year-round Camelback Resort bids a fond farewell to its thrilling snow season and welcomes in the spring with its fun and funniest event of the year – the annual Pond Skim.
Pond Skim is open to participants 18 years or older with lift tickets and to their viewing families, besties and “posses” who bring along their cameras and spirit to cheer on all the contestants. Contestants – many in creative and always amusing costumes – come on their skis (no poles), snowboards and floaties to see who can accomplish the most impressive jumps and major splashes across the pond.
The crowds roar and the judges determine “Best Skim” and the “Best Costume.” A live band and DJ emceed by Gary in the Morning are stationed on the stage. Ski vendors and food trucks will satisfy pond skimming goers’ appetites, and Yuengling Beer will be featured for purchase.
Season pass prizes will be awarded to winners of best skim, best costume and best splash.
Pond Skim Saturday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration starts at 10 a.m. and is free on day of. Participants must be 18 years or older and have lift tickets. The skimming takes place from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Awards and live music follow.
