Good Afternoon,

Today's total number of confirmed cases in Naugatuck is 52. These cases range in age from the mid-20’s to the high 80’s. Now first of all, this number really shouldn't alarm anyone. It's pretty much what we expected. We're in the acceleration phase of the virus. The actual acceleration looks like this. On Friday we were at 34. Yesterday 44. Today, 52. We anticipate the rise to continue for at least another week. What does this tell us? Well, what it says is, we are in the heart of the fight. Right now, more than ever, we need to follow all of the rules and guidelines. I'd like to thank everyone who is following the rules. You know the police are doing a great job, and all the reports are coming back that people are following the rules. We have a lot less knot heads this week, than we did last week. Thank God for that; people are wearing gloves at the gas stations, the grocery stores are doing well. There's plenty of food, and let's just keep it going.

Now, on a side note, I would like to remind everyone about the importance of the census, please complete your census forms while you're home. Each person who doesn't sign up costs us about $2,900 per year. Going forward, that could mean, clearly that we're losing 9 to 10 million a year, so that money would really help so let's fill out the forms. Now, our preliminary data seems to show that social distancing is working. Let's keep it up. Let's be more vigilant than ever. We will get through this. We're all in it together. Let's be Naugatuck strong.
