Attempted Car Theft Includes Pistol Pointed At Victim: Police

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” Naugatuck police say they are investigating an attempted car theft where a pistol was displayed.

At 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 15 police responded to the Citgo Gas Station at 800 New Haven Road for an attempted car theft. The incident began when the victim entered the gas station and a male suspect got into the driver’s seat of the victim’s Honda CRV, police said.

The victim interrupted the attempted theft of his vehicle, and confronted the suspect who eventually exited the victim’s vehicle, police said. A verbal confrontation ensued in the parking lot of the gas station between the victim, the suspect, and two accomplices, police said.

The argument culminated with a pistol being pointed at the victim, police said. The suspects entered an olive green Honda HR-V and fled the scene driving south on New Haven Road, police said.

The suspects were described as, two males and one female in their late teens or early twenties, specifically, the man who displayed the pistol was described as a light skinned Black male approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, police said in a news release.

The other suspect was described as a heavy-set Black man, and the female appeared to be Hispanic, police said.
