Auditions Announced for 'The Memory Box' at Phoenix Stage Company

PHOENIX STAGE COMPANY, located at 133 Main Street in Oakville is announcing open auditions on Monday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 18 from 7pm to 9pm.

THE MEMORY BOX is a new play by Laura King. This exciting new play is being produced as a part of the theaters NEW WORKS PROJECT. This will be a world premiere production with performances on October 13 thru October 22, Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm.
On the day of her mother Franny’s funeral, Lydia returns to Franny’s house to settle her affairs. When she opens Franny’s memory box, Lydia is transported from the realities of her own marriage and motherhood to Franny’s life during World War II. As Lydia journeys through the past, she searches for the strength to face the future.


We are seeking 3 Women and 3 men for this production. All roles are open, and the production is directed by Debbie Cryan with Stage Manager Agnes Dann.

Rehearsals will be held at the theater on Sunday, Mondays, and Wednesday evenings.

LYDIA: Franny’s daughter, Helen’s granddaughter, Mitch’s wife, Sara’s mother, born in 1943, she is 40 years old in 1983.
MITCH: Lydia’s husband, Sara’s father, born in 1942, he is 41 years old in 1983.
SARA: Lydia and Mitch’s daughter, Franny’s granddaughter, born in 1968, 15 years old in 1983
FRANNY: Helen’s daughter, Lydia’s mother, Tinker’s wife, Sara’s grandmother. Born in 1920, 23 years old in 1943
TINKER: Franny’s husband, Lydia’s father. Born in 1918, he is 25 years old in 1943
HELEN: Franny’s mother, born in 1898, she is 46 years old in 1943.
CURLY: Tinker’s friend. Born in 1918, he is 25 years old in 1943.
All roles are open. Actors of all ages and ethnicities are encouraged to audition, Phoenix Stage Company is an inclusive and open community theater.
This production is being directed by Debbie Cryan with Stage Manager Agnes Dann.
