Auditions Announced for "Prayz" at Landmark Community Theatre

Auditions for PRAYZ the musical will be held on Thursday, January 12th and Friday, January 13th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Thomaston Opera House. In the event of inclement weather, auditions will be moved to Sunday, January 15th from at the same time. PRAYZ is an original production written by Peter Michael O’Neill that will be featured on stage for two special performances for the Easter season.

This production is co-produced by Landmark Community Theatre and is under the direction of David Verdosci. Performance dates are Saturday, March 25th at 8:00 pm and Sunday, March 26th at 2:00 pm. Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, January 19th and continue to be held 2-3 times a week. Rehearsal days will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings.

PRAYZ is a singing celebration of the greatest story ever told. Follow our narrator- Jubal, the inventor of the musical instrument, on a journey from the garden of Eden to an empty tomb. Together we will take the audience through the history of praise music and the evolution of musical instruments over the centuries. There are happy endings in real life, and this is one of them.

Auditions will be on a first come, first served basis. No appointments are required. Those auditioning must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing 32 bars (about a minute) of a fully memorized musical theater song showcasing the style and vocal range of the character for which they are auditioning. Additional vocalizing may also be a part of the audition to determine vocal range and harmonizing skills. An accompanist will be provided; no recorded accompaniment is permitted. CAST SIZE: Rarely are more than 9-12 people on stage at any moment, so doubling is suggested. Without any doubling, the cast requires: 6 males, 7 females, 7 male/female choir, 5 children (male and female) choir. 5-7 regular dancers (male and female) 2 girls (children) and 2 boys (children).
