Axe Throwing Coming To CT Mall: Report

The business is scheduled to open next month.

WATERBURY, CT — DeadWood Axe Throwing will open in the Brass Mill Center Mall in Waterbury next month, The New Haven Register reported. The business opening represents the first new tenant since the Brass Mill Center Mall was purchased by a Great Neck, NY company in April.

The Brass Mill Center and Brass Mill Commons were sold for a combined $45 million to Brass Mill Center Realty Holding LLC, which specializes in acquiring distressed malls, according to The Waterbury Republican-American.

The mall is also in the process of signing a restaurant and a coffee kiosk for the food court. Mall officials told The New Haven Register that 89% of the mall's 1.1 million square feet is leased and occupied.

That number doesn't include two of the mall's vacant anchor spaces, the former locations of Macy's and Sears. The mall, along with others across the nation, has struggled during the last few years.

The Brass Mill Center Macy's closed last year and is among 125 stores the national retailer expects to close by 2023. Macy's also closed the Crystal Mall store in Waterford last year.
