Board of Education Appoints Next Assistant Superintendent
Congratulations to the educator who will take over the role of Assistant Superintendent on July 1.

Nauagtuck, CT - Naugatuck Board of Education Chair Jeff Litke shared this information on Thursday evening.
I have the privilege of sharing with you that at tonight’s Board of Education meeting the Board voted to appoint Melissa Cooney as the Assistant Superintendent of the Naugatuck Public Schools effective July 1, 2020.
Melissa has been the principal of Cross Street Intermediate School since July 2013 and prior to that she served from July 2008 to June 2013 as the principal of Western Elementary School. Melissa has a vested interest in our public schools as an administrator, community member and most importantly a parent. She will bring her wealth of knowledge and experience to this critical position.
We know that Melissa will be a dedicated and trusted partner to incoming Superintendent Chris Montini and together they will lead our district to new levels and continue to make positive improvements.
We are all excited for our incoming administration and the impact they will have on our students and district. Please join me in congratulating Melissa and wishing her all the best on her appointment as Assistant Superintendent of the Naugatuck Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Litke
Chair, Naugatuck Board of Education
