Bond Items on Naugatuck's Ballot Rejected by Voters

Of the four proposed projects, only one passed.

Voters in Naugatuck only approved the $5 million bonding proposal to repair Whittemore Bridge on Maple Street and several other roads, the Republican-American reports.

On the ballot Tuesday night, voters in Naugatuck were asked to vote on four capital projects worth nearly $20 million.

Mayor Robert A. Mezzo told the paper he was not surprised adding that officials would have a tough time determining what to do about the $12 million bond proposal for the federal and state mandated repairs to the wastewater treatment plant.

The proposal failed 3,394 to 4,039.

According to the paper, the proposals for the repairs to Hop Brook Pool and the moving of the recycling center also failed.
