Disney XD’s 'Crash & Bernstein' to Premiere in October

Tim Lagasse to appear as "Crash"

The live-action comedy series Crash and Bernstein will premiere on the kids cable network Disney XD in October 2012 (the specific date has yet to be announced.) This Disney family sitcom has added a loud-mouthed Muppet-like character to the cast named "Crash" who is played by my talented cousin, Emmy-nominated puppet master and filmaker Tim Lagasse. Tim was born and raised in Milford, CT and recently moved from Brooklyn to California to work on this series. The veteran puppeteer has worked on shows such as Sesame Street, Between the Lions, and Disney's Johnny and the Sprites and anyone who knows him will attest that he is perfect for this part.

The premise of the show is that 12-year-old Wyatt Bernstein is a typical boy who enjoys hanging out at the local arcade with his friend Pesto. He is the only son among the four kids in his family and feels the need for "male reinforcement" in a household full of females. When he’s reluctanly taken to a “Build-A-Bestie” store for his birthday, he creates Crash, who magically comes to life. This rod puppet, built by designed and built by Chiodo Brothers Productions, Inc. which is based in Burbank, California, becomes the brother Wyatt has always wanted. Because Crash knows no limits, Wyatt must help him learn how to be part of a human family. Crash in turn helps Wyatt come out of his shell. Although they sometimes have their differences, like true brothers, they always have each other’s back.

The humans starring in the multi-camera series are newcomer Cole Jensen as 12-year-old Wyatt; Oana Gregory (Lab Rats) as Amanda, Wyatt’s popular 16-year-old sister; Landry Bender (The Sitter) as Cleo, the fashion-forward middle sister; and Aaron Landon (New Girl) as Pesto, Wyatt’s best friend. Recurring is newcomer Mckenna Grace as Jasmine, the 6-year-old and most assertive sister.

"Full of unpredictable wit, Crash & Bernstein is another testament to Disney XD's commitment to providing unique original programming for boys and their quest for discovery, adventure and humor," said Adam Bonnett, senior vice president, original programming for Disney Channel. "The series offers a fresh take on the typical buddy comedy and brings together an everyday kid and his 'know no limits' puppet as they navigate life's adventures."

Crash & Bernstein was created by Eric Friedman (Austin & Ally, I’m In The Band). Friedman and Mike Larsen (Real Time with Bill Maher, Rodney) serve as executive producers. Crash & Bernstein is a production of It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc.

This promo video for the show is pretty funny.  This promo video will air on Disney XD starting August 17, 2012 at 6:23pm ET/PT — this link on Wired is the ONLY place you can see it before then.
