Drinking Habits by Tom Smith is the show that the after they decided to shorten the run of Zombie Prom coming up at the end of October. They describe the show on their website this way:
Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce by Tom Smith.
Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent's doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancees, are hot on their trail. They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves.
I am looking forward to seeing this show on Opening Night with some of my faithful Dinner and a Show members. Director Ed Bassett has described it as “nuns and wine” and made it sound like a lot of fun. For those of you who did not have the experience of sitting in a classroom with a nun as your teacher, the "habits" in the title is a pun about what the sisters used to wear every day. Itchy wool long dresses usually black with a matching veil, all anything but comfortable. Remember Whoopie Goldberg’s dislike of her convent outfit in Sister Act?
