Breaking News: Naugatuck Woman, 41, Struck and Killed in Waterbury

State police say the woman walked out in the middle of a highway construction zone.

State Police say Kristie Bronson, 41, of Naugatuck was struck and killed on Interstate 84 East in Waterbury early Thursday morning, NBC Connecticut reports.

NBC reports that Bronson walked out in the middle of the highway in a construction zone and was hit around 3 a.m., and later pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was caught underneath the vehicle and dragged by the vehicle before it came to “a controled final rest in the right shoulder of I-84 East with the pedestrian underneath the vehicle,” the accident report said, according to the Connecticut Post.

Police said the driver stayed at the scene and the highway was closed for several hours at Exit 25.
