Car Accident Leads To Drug Bust In Naugatuck: Police
A car accident in town led to officers seizing over 3,000 bags of heroin, nearly 100 grams of crack cocaine and more, according to police.
NAUGATUCK, CT β A car accident in town Sunday afternoon led to officers seizing over 3,000 bags of heroin, nearly 100 grams of crack cocaine and more, according to police.
In a news release, police said an accident with injuries was reported around 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Millville and Hillside avenues.
When officers arrived in the area, witnesses reported a driver, later identified as Devon Foote, 32, of Waterbury, had fled on foot with a reusable Target bag, police said.

Officers found Foote in the area of Hillside Intermediate School, however he refused commands to stop and engaged officers in a brief foot chase, police said.
Officers caught up to Foote and arrested him, however the Target bag was not found in his possession. The bag was later found hidden in a brushy area near the scene of the accident with assistance from a K9 officer, police said.

According to police, the recovered bag contained almost 3,800 bags of heroin, five grams of cocaine and 96 grams of crack cocaine, as well as several cell phones, narcotics packaging materials and a large amount of cash.
Foote was charged with use, possession or delivery of drug paraphernalia, illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, prescription or dispensing of a controlled substance, illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, prescription or administration by non-drug dependent person, illegal possession of controlled substance, interfering with an officer, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, improper use of license or registration, evading responsibility in a motor vehicle and failure to obey stop sign.
Foote was held on a $150,000 bond and was arraigned in court Monday.
