Join us in welcoming the incredible cast and creative team of Torera!
Long Wharf Theatre, in partnership with WP Theater, The Sol Project, and Latinx Playwrights Circle, is proud to present Torera, written by Monet Hurst-Mendoza and directed and choreographed by Tatiana Pandiani. Running September 20 through October 19, 2025 at WP Theater in New York City, Torera tells the story of Elena María Ramírez, a young woman determined to become a torera in Mexico’s bullfighting world. To step into the ring, she must defy her family, society, and the legendary torero Don Rafael Cárdenas. This dynamic, epic family drama swirls with the action, stakes, and intrigue of the bullfighting arena.

The cast features Jorge Cordova (“Black Mirror,” “FBI: Most Wanted”) as Don Rafael, Christian Galvis ("Kiss of the Spiderwoman") as Dancer, Jacqueline Guillen ("The Equalizer", “Orange Is the New Black”) as Elena, Elena Hurst ("Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992") as Pastora, Jared Machado ("Buena Vista Social Club" at ATC) as Tanok, and Andrea Soto ("VALIE EXPORT: EMBODIED") as Dancer.
The creative team includes Emmie Finckel (Set Design), Rodrigo Muñoz (Costume Design), Yuki Nakase Link (Lighting Design), G Clausen (Sound Design), RED Kadetsky (Lead Prop Master/Fabricator), Skye Bronfenbrenner and Carter Gill (Movement and Intimacy Coordination), Rodrigo Ortiz (Bullfighting Consultant), Alexis Nalbandian (Production Stage Manager), and Laura Pilar Gutierrez (Assistant Stage Manager).
