Re: COVID-19 Code Red Transcript

Good Afternoon,

Today's count in Naugatuck is 112, at our last call, we informed you that we were still in the acceleration phase of the virus. Early indications are that we are leaving or have already left the acceleration phase. At our last call on April 11 we were at 74, we were in the heart of the acceleration phase. We will then plus 6 plus 7, and our high of plus 10 on April 14. Since then on the 15th we will plus 8. The 16th yesterday, plus 3. Today the 17th plus 4, bringing us to a total of 112.

So, what do these numbers mean? Well it's still too early to be certain, but hopefully, we have begun a downward trend. This does not mean that we will be letting up on social distancing rules. Our police will continue to enforce the rules. They're doing a great job. You know our statistics do show clearly that our social distancing has been working. Thank you to everyone who has been following the rules. As we approach what people are starting to call the new normal. We all need to realize that some form of social distancing is going to continue for the foreseeable future. We will be revisiting some of our rules and tweaking them where necessary. We need to be prepared for the long haul. We will get through this. And we will remain Naugatuck strong. I want everyone to know that the United Way has started a relief fund to help residents affected by the virus. For more information, or to make a donation, call 203-729-1564.

Stay safe, Stay Healthy

Pete Hess
Mayor
Borough of Naugatuck
