Good Afternoon,

Today is Friday November 20th at 5pm, our case rate today is 18, and our positivity rate is 57.5. Let me try and put these numbers in context. The daily rate is the average number of cases per day over a two-week period. So, in Naugatuck, we had 252 cases over the past two weeks. Some of these cases have come from our new pop-up clinic on New Haven Road. 252, divided by 14 days is 18.

So that's our case rate. This rate is similar to rates of towns our size, and some neighboring towns. Obviously, we need to do better. Our positivity rate is 57.5. This is the number that determines our rate per hundred thousand people. This rate is supposed to be a better way to compare towns. Our positivity rate is also similar to towns our size and other surrounding towns.

So, what can we do? At Unified Command, we meet every day to work on all aspects of the pandemic. We've already started working on our plan to disseminate the vaccine, we're looking at new activities, skating rinks, cross country skiing, and other ways to combat COVID fatigue.

So, what can you do? First, Follow CDC guidelines. Second, maintain a positive attitude, third, use of common sense. Fourth, stay positive and test negative. Stay Naugy Strong and Naugy Smart.

Thank you

Pete Hess

Mayor
Borough of Naugatuck
