Decision Made On Classes At Naugatuck Public Schools For Feb. 23

A major snowstorm is expected to impact the region from Sunday, Feb. 22, through the afternoon on Monday, Feb. 23.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Naugatuck Public Schools will be closed Monday due to a forecasted winter storm, the district announced Sunday.

According to the district's Facebook page, schools will be closed Feb. 23 "due to the winter storm and anticipated travel conditions."

All school buildings will be closed, and all after-school and evening activities are canceled, according to the district.

"The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority," district officials wrote on Facebook. "Please continue to monitor local weather updates and district communications for any additional information. We hope everyone stays safe and warm!"

A blizzard warning has been issued for all of southern Connecticut as 60 mph wind gusts are possible Sunday night into Monday.

The heavy snow moves in this evening and really ramps up at night and Monday morning with snowfall rates of 2 inches per hour expected.

Coastal sections of Connecticut could see total snow accumulations between 16 and 24 inches. Snow accumulations between 16 and 20 inches are possible for inland areas.
