Police said a delivery driver is in "critical but stable" condition after being struck by his own vehicle in Naugatuck.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A delivery driver is in "critical but stable" condition after being struck by his own vehicle Friday morning in Naugatuck, according to police.

In a news release, police said the incident occurred around 8 a.m. in the area of Andrew and Manners avenues.

A preliminary investigation indicated a delivery driver, 44, was struck by his own vehicle after exiting it, according to police.

The driver was taken to Waterbury Hospital with serious injuries, police said.

According to police, the driver's condition "is currently reported as critical but stable."

The Naugatuck Valley Regional Accident Investigation Team has been requested to assist with the investigation, according to police.
