Dog Euthanized After Injured In Domestic Dispute: Naugatuck PD

A man is accused of kicking a dog during a domestic dispute in Naugatuck, according to police.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A dog was recently euthanized after being kicked by a man during a domestic dispute in Naugatuck, according to police.

Naugatuck police were notified by a local veterinary office on Aug. 20 that a dog had been euthanized after being admitted for injuries sustained during an incident the previous day, officials said.

Scott Childs, 31, of Naugatuck, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the incident following an investigation by the Naugatuck Animal Control and police officers, according to officials.

Police said Childs had been involved in a domestic dispute with a woman and during the course of the fight, the victim’s adult dog got between Childs and the victim. At that point, Childs is believed to have kicked the dog and caused the reported injuries, according to police.

Childs turned himself in after learning of a warrant for his arrest, police said. He was charged with risk of injury to a child, cruelty to animals and third-degree assault. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond with a court date of Aug. 25.
