Dog Left In Hot, Parked Car in Naugatuck, While Owners Shop, Cops Say

The incident allegedly happened around noon Monday.

Naugatuck relatives were both charged with cruelty to animals after allegedly leaving their dog in a hot parked car while grocery shopping on Monday, police said.

Police said Lisa and David Stumpo, of Red Robin Road, where shopping around noon Monday at the Stop & Shop Plaza when someone reported that a canine was inside the parked, unoccupied car.

Investigation revealed that the accused left the canine in the vehicle with the windows partially down while inside the store, police said.

The Stumpos’ were each charged with cruelty to animals and were released on a promise to appear in Superior Court.
