NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Seymour man accused of hitting a pedestrian with his vehicle in a Naugatuck parking lot was arrested Wednesday on driving under the influence charges, according to police.

In an arrest summary, police said William McGill, 64, is accused of striking a pedestrian with his car while backing out of a parking spot at the Cross Street commuter lot.

He was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and was released on a $5,000 bond, police said.

The Republican American reports the 63-year-old pedestrian remains hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening as of Thursday.
