Driver Charged With DUI After Crashing Into Pole In Naugatuck: PD
The crash occurred on Jan. 25 near Scott and Lewis streets.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A 31-year-old Ansonia man was arrested last week on charges of driving under the influence and evading responsibility after Naugatuck police said he crashed his vehicle into a telephone pole near Scott and Lewis streets, and then left the scene.
The crash occurred at about 12:35 a.m. on Jan. 25, and no injuries were reported.
Naugatuck police said that the driver, Martez T. Johnson, left two people in the vehicle after the crash, and he and another passenger fled on foot before police apprehended him a short distance away.

"It was discovered the accused was intoxicated and was then placed under arrest," Naugatuck police said.
Johnson was additionally charged with traveling too fast for the conditions, and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.

He is being held in lieu of bail of $20,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 31.
