NAUGATUCK, CT — The Naugatuck Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in town beginning Thursday night.

The checkpoint will take place on the Salem Bridge (CT Rt 63) between South Main Street and Cherry Street from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., according to police.

The department also noted they are legally required to notify the public of these checkpoints ahead of time.

"With the posting of this notice, we are always inundated with comments and concerns regarding the reason behind publicizing this announcement prior to the checkpoint," police said in a news release. "Formal notification of these enforcement efforts are a legal requirement in Connecticut."
