DUI Driver Engages Naugatuck Police In Pursuit: Police
The vehicle had no front driver side tire and was driving on its rim, police said.
NAUGATUCK, CT β A Wolcott man, Robert Charles MacMullen, 52, of Wolcott Road, is accused of driving while under the influence while he struck curbs and construction cones, Naugatuck Police said.
At 9:37 p.m. on Nov. 2, police responded to Cross Street by the Naugatuck Motor Lodge. The accused refused to stop, police said.
The vehicle had no front driver side tire and was driving on its rim, police said. The vehicle began to increase its speed and started striking curbs and construction cones until striking additional cones in the Naugatuck Motor Lodge parking area, police said.

The vehicle finally stopped and the accused exited the vehicle with his hands up, police said. Through the officers investigation the accused was found to be operating a motor vehicle in a reckless manner while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs, police said.
It was also found that MacMullen was in possession of a controlled substance, police said. He is charged with illegally operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, failure to drive right, engaging police in pursuit, second-degree reckless endangerment, and drinking while driving.

He was given a $25,000 bond.
